Pluto.TV — From Prototype to Platform

Pluto.TV came to us with a compelling vision — a linear TV experience built on internet content — and a codebase that couldn't carry it. The initial prototype had been built quickly, and it showed. The architecture wasn't going to survive the growth the founders were planning for.

We redesigned the system from the ground up, working directly with the founding team to turn their vision into a self-consistent engineering design that engineers could build on confidently. We led and mentored the early engineering team through the initial product build, and co-authored six patents covering core aspects of the technology.

Pluto.TV went on to raise $12M in seed funding on the strength of that foundation. They were later acquired by Viacom for $350M.

Anonymous Hedge Fund — Systems That Cannot Fail

For a hedge fund that prefers to remain anonymous, we designed and built a suite of fault-tolerant trading systems with nine-nines uptime requirements — the kind of reliability where downtime isn't just costly, it's unacceptable.

The systems capture full L2 orderbook data across hundreds of symbols from multiple exchanges, with zero data loss since launch. Built on that foundation are ML training and backtesting pipelines, live signal detection and trade execution systems, and a real-time risk management layer with automated emergency stops.

Every component was built to survive. At last check, the systems had run for years without a single failure.

Pegasus Solutions — Modernization Under Pressure

Pegasus Solutions provides software and infrastructure to the hotel industry globally. When we engaged, they were at risk of losing their largest clients due to an aging development process that couldn't keep pace with their needs.

We stabilized those relationships while simultaneously leading the design and launch of a new internet booking engine that brought in over 35 new clients in its first three months. Development velocity improved by 300%.

Sometimes the most important thing is knowing what to fix first.
